Crown Pitch Designs for Main UK site

Crown Paints Website design

Crown have put out to pitch the re-design of their main UK paints brand website. After a short period to pull together a strategy, Information Architecture, User Experience plan and Creative Direction, I finally got round to actually designing some of the key style setters.

The Art Direction draws heavily on their offline communications, especially their Colour Card. Tonally and content-wise the emphasis is not on telling the consumer which colours are right and work best together (this is the realm of some key competitors), rather we focus on providing inspiration and acknowledging that each person will have their own taste. We have proposed to do this via editorial content, design applications and extensive, categorised magazine-style room-set galleries.

This is a great piece of design and strategy, and I really hope the client sees the potential in what the concept is trying to do.

Bupa Online Flash Display Banners

Bupa Online Flash Display Banners

I did a nice little set of animated banners based upon the new Bupa brand look and feel this week. The style is quite nice really. Simple flat shapes and animation. Different for the market place.

The messaging was quick an simple, so the job was to lift the look and message with a little animation.

Duo Paper Website

Duo Paper website designs

International Paper brand ‘Duo paper‘ doesn’t currently have a website, but also a limited budget. The brand has an ethical and environmental policy when it comes to the properties and production of their paper, so my creative route eventually led to a Zen/Buddhist/origami art direction.

Following this, the pack art direction and other literature is quite minimal so the blending of the two made up my final design routes which after minimal tweaking by the client was approved.

The build was done by a colleague of mine and went live without a hitch. A reatively small job in the scheme of things, but there’s something in the simplicity that makes it endearing for me.
