Scuba Update

Toni & I are a third of the way through our Scuba certificate now. After a few classes, last night we had our first confined-pool dive. it was really, really cool.

There’s nothing like it to be honest, just fishin’ around breathing underwater.

There was a lot of exercises we had to go through, like changing your breathing source while underwater to another person’s secondary breathing source. Teaching yourself not to hold you breath, ’cause your lungs can rupture if your depth changes. Clearing water from the airpiece and your mask while underwater, plus a swimming and water-treading test.

It was quite cool though, how quickly we got used to the whole thing really.

We’ve got 1 more classroom theory lesson, a knowledge exam, 1 more confined-pool lesson, and then 2 open-water dives before we become qualified PADI Scuba Divers, and then we can go on our honeymoon to the Caribbean and dive in the reefs by ourselves if we like!

Quote Of The Week

When people run around and around in circles we say they are crazy. When planets do it we say they are orbiting.

Well done to Liverpool last night, that’s one in the face for the italians.

Here is my nephew Josh, dressed and ready for the match last night. On the back, it has his name hehehe, boss or what!

As many of you know, I am NOT a football fan. But EVERYONE alse in my family is (and have always been reds, hence my nurtured preference), so I am foced to watch many of the ‘important’ games.
I must say, as my football excitement meter goes, last nights game may have registered a small amount of excitiment, resulting in me saying that it was a ‘good’ game.

I remember when I was younger always going to the homecoming parades for Liverpool. I think it’s a shame they are not waiting until the weekend to give all the commuters and the people who are still in Istanbul a chance to come home first.

PADI Scuba Diving

Toni & I start our PADI Scuba Diving course tonight.

There’s alot of reading and learning to do!
We have to read 120-odd pages of a PADI manual and complete tests at home before the first theory lesson tonight, so it was a late one last night. And we only got half-way through. But, in the end, it’ll be worth it :-)

Episode III: Reveng Of The Sith

I can now report that I have seen Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and in my humble opinion I thought it was absolutely amazing! I sat in the cinema for the whole 2 hours and 10 minutes with my jaw dropped in child-like wonderment.

The way this film manages to knit the first two rather estranged films into the original 3 which were such a big part of my childhood totally renews my faith in Mr Lucas. I can now sit back and to a fairly safe extent, and think of Star Wars as a 6-film Saga.

There were so many big answers, and small nuances that make the transition from 3 to 4 so satisfying to see. Not least the final transformation of the Republic to the Galactic Empire, which lets face it, apart from Anakins/Vaders personal story, is what all three of the prequels are about.

There may be conflicting opinions (I haven’t seen any) but I would have to say to these people, just clear your mind of uncertainties and preconceptions… for this leads to the dark side of the force!

As heartbroken as I am, I’m not 100% if I can make it to the wedding or not. I know that I’ve had a lot of prior notice mate and if I’m able to take some leave in June, I genuinely will.”

I’ll be heart-broken if he can’t come :-(
